Recognised as a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 2002, situates at the altitude of around 12001ft, in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand is a heaven for all the nature lovers, The Valley Of Flowers. It is a national park in north chamoli around the Pushpavati river. Blessed with a diverse range of endemic flora and fauna the valley is home to some rare endangered species like Asiatic black beer, snow leopard, Musk deer, red fox, blue sheep etc. The legends believe that the enchanting valley is where Hanuman came to collect sanjeevni booti for curing Laxman. The trek is easy to moderate perfect for beginners. The valley is 12kms from Govind Ghat and around 5kms from Ghangaria, the high elevation serene lake also know an hemkund, the crystal clear water is the lake comes from Hathi parvat and Saptarishi tops. It is a significant journey for hindus as well as sikhs. It is believed that 10th Guru of the Sikhs Guru Govind Singh had reflected in this lake prior to his birth, therefore you will find a Gurudwara on the way serving humanity to people. To get lost in its ethereal beauty one must visit the valley around autumn as the valley is covered with snow around the year except monsoon and post monsoon.
